Gavin set to make the cut


Gavin Kyle Green lining a putt on the second day at the Maybank Malaysian Open. He carded a two-under 70 for a 144 two-day total.

PETALING JAYA: National golfer Gavin Kyle Green staged a strong back-nine recovery to card a modest two-over 72 in the opening round of the US$7.1mil (RM30.52mil) Quicken Loans National.

The 23-year-old, playing in his third US PGA Tour event of the season, had four birdies and six bogeys to be placed joint 66th with 17 others, including 2011 winner Nick Watney, at the TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm in Maryland on Thursday.
