PETALING JAYA: Calling all amateur golfers. There is a chance for you to play a round of golf with international stars at next year’s Maybank Malaysian Open.

An inaugural Maybank Malaysian Open Medal (MMO Medal) tournament will be held at nine clubs throughout the country in January to pick four amateurs – Medal A (handicap 0-12), Medal B (handicap 13-18), Medal C (19-24) and women’s category (0-36) – to play in the Malaysian Open pro-am event at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club (KLGCC) on Feb 4.

The Malaysian Open, co-sanctioned by the European and Asian Tours, is from Feb 5-8 and Maybank is celebrating their 10th anniversary as title sponsor.

All the amateurs, however, must go through the qualifying rounds before they advance to the final stage of the MMO Medal at KLGCC. The dates for the qualifying rounds and final stage will be announced later.

Besides KLGCC, the other participating clubs are Royal Selangor Golf Club, Kota Permai Golf and Country Club, Saujana Golf and Country Club, Templer Park Country Club, Penang Golf Club, Royal Perak Golf Club, Ayer Keroh Golf Club and Sutera Harbour Golf Club.
