PETALING JAYA: Namibian Petrus Shitembi (pic), who recently penned a new deal with Kuching City, admits he will miss two familiar faces who have left the club.
The 34-year-old midfielder nicknamed the ‘’Dancing Shoes’’ has struck up such a good partnership with Daniel Amier Norhisham and Moses Atede that their absence this season will be felt strongly.
‘’They were great partners for me as we have an incredible understanding on the pitch. It’s a little sad not to have Daniel and Moses around anymore, but we can’t hold on to them forever,’’ said Shitembi.
‘’Their exits create room for the others to step up, and also new players to come in.’’
As the Cats seek more new signings to mount a stronger challenge this season, Shitembi is well aware that the dynamics around him are about to change.
But he believes the club’s growing depth will only sharpen the squad ahead of a demanding campaign.
“We have so much to build on, and we need to work on that in abundance during pre-season camp to get the cohesion and chemistry right.
‘’You can have the best squad on paper but if things don’t go accordingly, it won’t work,” he said.
“I’m joining the team a little late, but I’m glad to see the boys hungry to achieve a lot, especially given the competitions we have ahead. I’m really excited for the season.”
