PETALING JAYA: Eduardo Sosa fired a double to help Selangor recover from a goal down to edge Kuching City 2-1 in their FA Cup semi-final first leg match at the Petaling Jaya Stadium on Friday (Oct 23)
The Red Giants fell behind after eight minutes when Kuching winger Ramadhan Saifullah scored a supeb solo goal, beating two defenders before shooting from a difficult angle past Selangor goalkeeper Sikh Izhan Mazrel Sikh Azman.
Ten minutes later, Selangor equalised when Venezuelan midfielder Sosa unleashed an unstoppable shot past Kuching goalkeeper Haziq Nadzli after receiving a pass from French midfielder Hugo Boumous.
Sosa then got his second in the 57th minute when he finished off a superb assist from Brazilian striker Chrigor Moraes, by cutting in and placing a superb right-footed shot past Haziq.
The 30-year-old was then taken off in the 62nd minute for Dutch striker Kay Tejan and there was some worry as he clutched his hamstring, but he did his job and helped his team take the lead before the second leg.
The second leg will be held at the State Stadium in Kuching on Nov 8, as Selangor, five-time winners (1991, 1997, 2001, 2005 and 2008), look to get to their 10th FA Cup final.
