PETALING JAYA: Kuala Lumpur head coach Risto Vidakovic hopes the club’s salary woes will no longer be a bother as the management have shown support for the City Boys.
The management have been slacking on salary arrears, but it did not stop the City Boys from putting in the work on the pitch by producing a superb 4-0 win against Brunei on Sunday.
The win saw them moving up to the third place in the Super League.
Vidakovic said the management had visited the locker room before kickoff at the Cheras Stadium, something that has not happened in quite some time, and it gave the team hope that things would improve soon.
“It’s positive that the management team and the president came, it’s good because we never closed the door for anyone,” said Vidakovic.
“We are doing all that we can for the club, and at the end of the day, it’s the management’s team, not mine.
“But we have been wanting to perform and chasing success, which needs support, nothing else.
“The management have the responsibility over the club and it’s important to hear from them. The atmosphere is better just knowing that someone is looking after the team.”
Vidakovic was told that the Kuala Lumpur Football Association (KLFA) will settle the arrears within the week, but he remains skeptical until everything is cleared.
“I hope it’s true. I don’t think they (management) are hiding anything. If they have said they will, then I hope they do,” said Vidakovic.
The salary issues had also led to the club being slapped with a three-window transfer ban by FIFA.
During the match against Brunei, Safawi Rasid scored a brace in the ninth and 18th minutes, before Paulo Josue scored another in the 61st, followed by Victor Ruiz’s final blow in the 70th minute.
