PETALING JAYA: Negri Sembilan head coach Nidzam Jamil has left his future with the club in the hands of the management following a string of poor results that have cast doubt over his position.

Negri suffered their fourth straight loss in the Super League after Immigration came from behind to beat them 2-1 at the Paroi Stadium on Saturday.

The loss added salt to the Deer as they were knocked out of the Malaysia Cup quarter-finals by Selangor.

On Feb 14, the Red Giants showed no mercy by thrashing them 5-1 to advance with a massive 6-1 aggregate win.

Negri have not won since beating Kelantan 2-0 in December, and Nidzam is aware that the unfavourable results has put his role in question.

“Football coaches are hired to be fired, that’s normal in this field,” said Nidzam.

“The same goes for others, too. If you don’t bring in results, then your position will be shaky.

“And I know when it comes to results, there have been whispers.

“My goal here is to bring football to a better level, and if that does not meet the management’s target or they feel it isn’t good enough, then I will be the first to take responsibility.

“Then again, a football team are not just made up of the coach, there are many things that we need to look at.

“But of course, I am the one who makes decisions during the match, and I’ll take full responsibility.”

In front of their home fans, Negri took the lead early through Luqman Hakim Shamsudin in the eighth minute, but were forced to play with 10 men after midfielder Yuichi Hirano was shown the red card in the 19th minute.

Immigration capitalised on the advantage, and Eduardo Sosa was the hero with two goals - after scoring the equaliser in the 40th minute and followed it up with the winning goal in the 85th minute.

Nidzam added that his responsibility was to ensure the club performed better than they did last season, and lay the groundwork for success in the long run.

“My responsibility is clear, it is to bring this team to a better position than last season.

“I’m here to build the foundation for what the management want the club to be in the next two to three years,” he said.

Last season, Negri finished second last in the standings with just four wins in the Super League.

They are currently in ninth in the standings with 17 points and four wins, as Immigration move ahead of them into seventh with 18 points.
