PETALING JAYA: Selangor strengthened their grip on second place in the Super League after Chrigor Moraes struck late to seal a 1-0 win over Kuching City at the Petaling Jaya Stadium on Sunday (Feb 22).

Both teams showed intent from the start, but it was the hosts who found the breakthrough when Moraes netted in the 85th minute to secure all three points.

The Red Giants are four points ahead of Kuching, who dropped to fourth.

Kuala Lumpur moved into third place after they beat Brunei 4-0 at the Cheras Stadium with 33.

Safawi Rasid scored a brace in the ninth and 18th minutes, before Paulo Josue extended the lead in the 61st.

Spain’s Victor Ruiz then sealed the win with the fourth goal in the 70th minute.

In Kota Kinabalu, league leaders Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) remained unbeaten with 51 points after thrashing Sabah 6-1 at the Likas Stadium.

JDT were awarded a penalty in the ninth minute, and striker Bergson da Silva converted to put his side ahead.

Bosnian forward Ajdin Mujagic and Oscar Arribas scored two goals each (21st, 40th) and (24th, 48th) respectively while winger Maniel Hidalgo netted one in the 46th minute.

Sabah got their consolation goal late into the match as Chris Mba struck in the 87th minute. It was their seventh loss this season and they sit at the 11th spot with 14 points.
