PETALING JAYA: Selangor’s new import Hugo Boumous hopes to keep his winning momentum going with the Red Giants when they take on Terengganu at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium today.
The 30-year-old Frenchman has already been fielded twice for the Red Giants since he arrived last month, playing in their 3-0 win over Kelantan the Real Warriors in the Malaysia Cup round of 16 on Jan 23, and in their 2-0 win against Vietnamese side Cong An Hanoi in the Asean Club Championships Shopee Cup match on Wednesday.
“It was a great atmosphere and great to play in front of the fans,” said Boumous.
“To get the three points against the Vietnamese team, and a win in the Cup to advance to the next round, it’s great for a debut.
“And it’s nice to play alongside my new teammates and new coach.”
Boumous already showed his influence on the pitch after assisting captain Faisal Halim to score his second goal at the Petaling Jaya Stadium against Hanoi on Wednesday.
Facing the Turtles in his away match today in the Super League, Boumous is aware of the Terengganu threat.
Having also joined the club in the midst of a hectic schedule, Boumous added that he has been getting up to speed to the league’s demands.
“It’s going to be a tough game against a strong opponent. Not an easy away game.
“But everyone in the team is ready to get the points.
“We’ve been training hard to prepare, despite having played so many matches in the last few days,” he said.
Meanwhile, head coach Kim Pan-gon will be looking to keep his unbeaten run with Selangor going since taking over the reins earlier this month.
Pan-gon will also have one of his own countrymen in his arsenal after Selangor welcomed their first South Korean player in attacking winger Kim Ji-ho.
Selangor are currently second in the Super League with 31 points, while Terengganu are fifth with 24 points.
