Giants out to extend winning streak as Mousedeer await

PETALING JAYA: Selangor are out to keep up their winning momentum against Melaka in their Super League clash at the Petaling Jaya Stadium today.

The Red Giants, who are now unbeaten after six straight games, know that a win over the Mousedeer would lift them to third place in the standings.

Selangor coach Christophe Gamel said his side are in high spirits after the 3-1 win over Police on Tuesday but stressed the need to maintain their momentum.

“The most important takeaway from the win over Police was the players’ high level of spirit and their desire to keep developing our style of play.

“There is good consistency and continuity in the team right now, and that is something we must carry into the next two matches.”

Jordanian midfielder Noor Al-Rawabdeh believes Selangor are growing with every match, pointing to their rising confidence and consistency.

Al-Rawabdeh, who capped the win over Police with a well-taken goal, said the result and the atmosphere in Selayang reflected a team moving firmly in the right direction.

“It was nice to win against Police and to feel the support from the fans in Selayang. That kind of backing gives the players a big confidence boost,” said the 28-year-old.

“We are making steady progress and you can see that we are getting better, game by game.

‘‘That is exactly the kind of growth we want, and we aim to continue this in the next match.”
