Arif is now JDT’s top local hitman with 61 goals


JOHOR BAHRU: Arif Aiman Hanapi has become Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT)’s highest local goal-getter, having scored 61 goals in all competitions.

According to a post uploaded to the Johor Southern Tigers Facebook page, the 23-year-old Arif set the record following the brace he notched in JDT’s 7-0 thrashing of Police in a Super League match at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium on Saturday.

It added that the achievement enabled Arif to erase the previous record of 59 goals set by the club’s former captain and legend, Safiq Rahim.

“Only two foreign players – Bergson Da Silva dan Gonzalo Cabrera – have scored more goals for JDT, with 166 and 66 respectively.

“Arif, who achieved the milestone in 170 matches, has also made 66 assists for the club,” it added.

The statement said Arif has scored 30 goals in the Super League, eight in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League Elite, 10 in the FA Cup, 12 in the Malaysia Cup and one in the Asean Club Championship. — Bernama
