Harimau Malaya call-up two new goalies


PETALING JAYA: National second and third-choice goalkeepers, Haziq Nadzli and Azri Ghani, have withdrawn from the football squad due to health issues.

Both players, who have enjoyed stellar seasons with their clubs Kuching City and Negri Sembilan respectively, will be replaced by Selangor's Sikh Izhan Nazrel Sikh Azman and Terengganu's Suhaimi Hussin.

The changes were confirmed via the national team's official social media platforms.

National coach Peter Cklamovski has earlier named a 29-man squad for the upcoming 2027 Asian Cup third-round qualifiers against Laos.

The Harimau Malaya squad left to Vientiane, Laos, on Monday (Oct 6) and will go through a centralised training camp before their Group F clash against Laos at the New Laos National Stadium on Thursday (Oct 9).

The return leg will be played at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur on Oct 14.
