KUALA LUMPUR: Terengganu are keeping their focus firmly on securing three points as they prepare to face BG Pathum in tonight’s crucial Asean Club Championships (ACC) clash at Pathum Thani Stadium.

The final match in Group A remains highly competitive, with four teams still in the hunt for a spot in the next round, including Indonesia’s PSM Makassar, who will face Vietnam’s Thanh Hoa.

While BG Pathum lead the group with eight points, they are closely followed by Terengganu and PSM Makassar, both on seven points, while Thanh Hoa are fourth with six points.

Terengganu midfielder Manuel Ott stressed that his side have no choice but to win if they are to secure a place in the semi-finals.

“The table is very tight right now, with four teams still in contention for the next round. We know what we need to do tomorrow (today), what we came here for.

“Obviously, the simplest way to achieve that is by securing three points. However, it will be a tough game, and the competition will be intense,” said Ott in a press conference yesterday.

Despite the packed schedule following their Malaysia Cup semi-final clash with Johor Darul Ta’zim last Saturday, Ott is confident that the players selected by coach Badrul Afzan Razali will leave everything on the field.

Terengganu revived their chances in the tournament with a hard fought 1-0 win over Makassar on Jan 22, ending the Indonesian side’s unbeaten run after four matches. They not only bring that momentum into this match but also welcome back several key players who missed the previous encounter against JDT.

These include goalkeeper Rahadiazli Rahalim, along with Safawi Rasid, Azam Azmi Murad, and Akram Mahinan, all of whom are ready to strengthen the team for the upcoming clash against the Thais.

“Our preparation has been solid, and my players are ready for tomorrow’s game.

For tomorrow’s (today) match, I am optimistic that we can secure three points to advance to the semi-finals. We know BG Pathum are a strong team with experienced players, and we have great respect for them. However, I am confident that my players are well-prepared and ready for the challenge,” said Badrul.
