Arif scores a double as JDT stun Terengganu in M’sia Cup semi-finals


PETALING JAYA: Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) have taken a healthy lead in the Malaysia Cup semi-finals after beating Terengganu 4-0 at the Sultan Mizan Stadium in Gong Badak on Friday (Jan 17).

The Southern Tigers got their first goal in the 17th minute when striker Romel Morales capitalised on a defensive melee to gift the away side the lead.

Winger Arif Aiman Hanapi scored the second in the 78th minute when he curled in a superb shot past three defenders.

Arif netted his second of the night when he finished off a cutback from Juan Muniz to score his 16th goal in all competitions

Brazilian striker Bergson Da Silva completed a glorious night for JDT by finishing a pass from midfielder Nazmi Faiz Mansor in the 90th minute.

The second leg semi-finals will be held at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium on Feb 1.
