JDT snap up Kevin and Brad to strengthen team


PETALING JAYA: Johor Darul Ta’zim are looking to add more bite to their defence with the signing of a Colombian centreback Kevin Medina. 

The 33-year-old joins from Azerbaijani side Qarabag, where he helped the club finish as league runners-up last season.

Medina is expected to partner Eddy Israfilov of Azerbaijan at the heart of JDT’s defence.

Alongside Medina, the reigning Super League champions also announced the signing of Australian defensive midfielder Brad Tapp

The 25-year-old Tapp has lifted the AFC Cup woth Central Coast Mariners in the 2023-2024 season. 

"Two champions (Medina and Tapp) have come together," JDT made a statement. 

JDT also paid tribute to Heberty Fernandes and Park Jun-hong, thanking both for their service and contribution to the club’s success during their time with the Southern Tigers.

"We wish you all the best in your careers. Having made immense contributions to JDT, these players will always remain part of the JDT family," the club said.

Jun-hong could move to Indonesia to play for Persik Kediri, while Fernandes’ status is yet to be known. 

Meanwhile, Nazmi Faiz Mansor, Ibrahim Mannusi and Ajdin Mujagic will leave the club on loan.

Nazmi is being eyed by Kuching City and Star City, formerly known as Immigration, while Ibrahim is wanted by Kuala Lumpur.

Bosnian Mujagic could be on his way to Indonesian club Persib Bandung.
