PETALING JAYA: Kuala Lumpur centreback Nicholas Swirad was beaming with joy as he looked to the grandstand of the Cheras Football Stadium after scoring in their 3-1 win against Kelantan in the Super League on Friday.

It was not surprising as his parents Konrad Swirad and Justina Swirad, who flew in from England two weeks ago, were there to watch him in action.

The 33-year-old Nicholas capitalised on a loose save from Kelantan goalie Fikri Che Soh off a corner, by volleying from close range in the 65th minute.

Captain and striker Paulo Josue scored a double in the 80th and 93rd minute to confirm their sixth win of the season.

Kelantan scored the first goal in the 57th minute through Brazilian striker Washington Brandao.

Nicholas was certainly delighted to score his first goal for the club, especially in front of his parents.

“My father had not seen me play since I was in PKNS, which was five years ago. So for him to see me play and score the equaliser, it kind of worked out perfectly. I did myself justice that night,” said the former Selangor and Melaka player.

“He has been there with me all the way in football when I first played in Manchester College to this end of the world. It is priceless. I feel grateful they are here.”
