JDT earns first point in the AFC Champions League Elite


PETALING JAYA: Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) have started their AFC Champions League (ACL) Elite campaign with a point.

The Southern Tigers were held 2-2 by Chinese club Shanghai Port at the Pudong Olympic Stadium in Shanghai on Wednesday (Sept 18).

Winger Arif Aiman Hanapi starred for the visitors with two brilliant solo goals in the 45th and 56th minute.

Shanghai’s goals were scored by Brazilian strikers Gustavo Henrique (48th minute) and Willian Popp (73rd).

JDT’s next game in the ACL Elite will be against another Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Iskandar Puteri on Oct 1.
