PETALING JAYA: Keisuke Honda will always be known as one of Asia’s top football exports to Europe but in the ongoing Cambodia SEA Games, he has set the scene alight with his fashion sense.

Against Timor Leste, Honda wore a black see-through shirt and Bermuda pants, and against the Philippines, he wore a patterned tee and baggy jeans.

The general manager of the Cambodian national football team is leading the nation’s Under-22 team in the SEA Games, with the hope of pulling off a surprise by winning a medal in their home games.

Honda’s side have so far won one match and drawn one in Group A of the competition.

They beat Timor Leste 4-0 on April 29 and were held by the Philippines 1-1 on May 2.

While many are raving about his fashion sense, he is focused on leading the team in the games and even shared a comment after the game against the Philippines.

“It is easy to say that we could have won the game against the Philippines, but I am proud of my boys for getting the one point,” he said on social media.

“We will change our mentality soon, and we will prepare for the next game.”

Cambodia will next take on Myanmar in their third Group A encounter at the Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh on Saturday.

Honda, 36, is one of the most respected footballers in the region, as he has played for sides like CSKA Moscow, AC Milan, VVV-Venlo and Vitesse Arnhem in Europe.

For Japan, he has played 98 games and scored 37 goals.
