Young assists master Htet Aung set to pass the bigger tests

PETALING JAYA: The slight figure of Myanmari international Hein Htet Aung (pic) has been a huge presence in the Selangor engine room for the last three years.

Standing only 1.74m (5’7”), the 21-year-old has established himself as the side’s assists master, with his incisive passing and sumptuous crosses leading to many goals for the Red Giants.

He also has one of the best first touches in the league and his dribbling has been described as “ballerina-like” by some.

While the plaudits get ever more flattering for Htet Aung, he’s determined to use his time with Selangor in the Super League to develop into one of the best players in the region.

“I’ve learnt a lot and become a better player with Selangor. And I wish to stay longer and get even better and help the team achieve their goals,” he said.

“We had our first friendly two days ago against Kedah and are slowly building up a strong momentum for the new season.”

Htet Aung is looking forward to striking up good partnerships with new attackers like Faisal Halim and Ayron Del Valle.

“The new players are technically sound, so I’m sure they will fit in nicely with our playing philosophy.”
