PETALING JAYA: Young striker Lokman Bah Din (pic) wants to prove that his selection for the Pahang Super League squad is the right one.
The 20-year-old player has become the pride of the Orang Asli community after he was picked to play professional football two days ago and he is determined to repay the faith of the Pahang management.
“Alhamdulillah, I am blessed to play at a high level. But at the same time, I have a lot to learn. My mission this season is to go far and compete and learn with the experienced players in this team,” said the player from Kampung Simoi Baru in Lipis, Pahang.
“The help of experienced senior players such as Nor Azam Azih, Fadhli Shas, Azri Nasrulhaq and other players will go a long way too.
“I also don’t want to get too comfortable with people’s praise because it can eat you up.”
Lokman is one of the Orang Asli players who was with the Pahang Youth Cup squad in 2020 before gaining experience with the FAM-MSN Project squad for two seasons (2021-2022).
Lokman’s recruitment by Pahang also caught the attention of Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail.
“Lokman’s achievements are expected to open the eyes of more young people among the Orang Asli community to be active in the field of sports in this country,” said Wan Rosdy on his official Facebook page.
“This is the good news that we have been waiting for a long time, it has finally become a reality with the announcement of Lokman being selected by Pahang this season.”
