PETALING JAYA: The Malaysia Under-23 team needed a late winner to beat Thailand 2-1 in the first Group B game of the Vietnam SEA Games at the Thien Truong Stadium in Nam Dinh on Saturday (May 7).

Thailand got the first goal of the game in the 33rd minute when striker Patrik Gustavsson’s brilliant move beat three Malaysian defenders, and he had the easiest task of putting it past Azri Ghani.
