PETALING JAYA: The coaches from big guns Selangor and Penang are not exactly pleased despite chalking up huge wins over lowly M3 league opponents to advance to the FA Cup second round.
Brazilian import striker Herlison Caion was the hero for Selangor when his hattrick helped the five-time champions thrash Harini FC 6-0 in the first-round match at the MBPJ Stadium on Friday.
Selangor’s other goals came from Brazilian Hyuri Henrique, Safuwan Baharudin and Syahir Bashah.
Selangor coach Michael Feichtenbeiner felt that the margin of victory should have been bigger.
“We controlled the match proceedings from the start. We created more chances and scored three goals in the first half. But I think we should have scored more in the second half,” said Feichtenbeiner.
“Maybe we should have put in two or three more but I understand that it’s not easy to create 10 chances even against an M3 League side.
“They were defending well,” said the German.
Penang also had it easy against amateur side Bukit Tambun FC, taking a 2-0 lead in the first half through goals from Brazilian Rafael Vitor and Aliff Romli at the City Stadium in Penang.
Rafiuddin Roddin and Danial Ashraf later added to Penang’s scoreline in the second half while coach Tomas Trucha bemoaned the numerous chances that came to waste.
“We played well, created lots of scoring chances and I felt we should have got a bigger score,” said Trucha.
“Not 4-0 but maybe 5-0 or 6-0. The good thing for us though is that we did not let in any goal.
“We played according to our game plan. The FA Cup is where we will give the opportunity to other players to strut their stuff.
“I’m happy with the display but I feel we could have netted more from the chances we had,” said the Czech coach.
