IPOH: Perak football players and officials have received one month of their overdue salaries.
State sports committee chairman Khairul Shahril Mohamed said the salaries were paid out on Wednesday (April 7) through funding from the state government.
Khairul Shahril said the state was still looking for a way to continue paying the players and officials.
"We hope (the arrears) will not be more than two months.
"We will try to settle it before Hari Raya," he told a press conference after a briefing on state telecommunications infrastructure here on Thursday (April 8).
"I hope the players will not use it (the overdue salaries) as an excuse not to play well.
"We will ensure that the team is looked after," he added.
The players and officials were reported to have not received their salaries for February and March.
Khairul Shahril said the state was now open to any offers to help the team.
"Anyone who wishes to help out as main sponsors or buy shares, we are open to offers.
"We want genuine people to manage the team, and not use it as a platform to expand their businesses," he said.
