Cheng Hoe still wants warm-up before UAE clash


No go: The Harimau Malaya were supposed to play against Bahrain in a friendly match next month but that has been called off due to the virus outbreak.

PETALING JAYA: National team coach Tan Cheng Hoe is still hoping to get a friendly match against a Gulf nation to warm-up before resuming their 2022 World Cup-2023 Asian Cup qualifying campaign next month.

The Harimau Malaya are scheduled to play Bahrain in a friendly match at the Khalifa Sports City Stadium in the city of Isa on March 21 but the match was called off following the Bahrain government’s order to tighten travel to countries that are involved in the Covid-19 outbreak which includes Malaysia.
