KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Tsen Ren Bao, who rides for Australia-based continental team St George Continental Cycling Team, is expected to once again attract the attention of cycling fans at the Le Tour de Langkawi.
The 23-year-old Ren Bao is making his third appearance in the race.
When he made his debut, representing the national team, Ren Bao finished 56th overall, but his performance improved after joining St George last year, improving to 34th, and even emerged as Malaysia’s best rider last year.
Others in the St George line-up are Rohan Haydon Smith, Liam Cuthbertson, Jack Lightfoot, Lindon Milostic and Daniel Whitehouse.
"British rider Whitehouse, 31, is a capable climber who also competed last year, emerging as the team’s best performer, finishing 17th overall.
"Whitehouse, who represented local outfit TSG during the 2016-2017 season, is regarded as a versatile rider capable of producing surprises on climbing stages, especially following his strong performance in finishing third overall at this year’s Tour of Thailand," said a statement released by the organiser on Sept 20 (Sunday).
The 30th edition of the Tour will begin with Stage 1 from Shah Alam to Kampar on Sept 27 and conclude with Stage 8 from Muar to Putrajaya on Oct 4, spanning 1,285.5 kilometres.
The 2.ProSeries-ranked LTdL26 is organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports through the National Sports Council, with full support from the Malaysian National Cycling Federation. - Bernama
