LANGKAWI: Excitement is mounting ahead of the much-anticipated Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) as all 22 teams have confirmed their line-ups for the opening stage this Sunday (Sept 28).
The official team presentation at Dataran Lang in Kuah on Friday (Sept 26) was a dazzling affair, featuring the introduction of all participating squads.
A total of 130 riders will compete in this year’s edition, representing two World Tour teams, nine Pro Tour outfits, 10 Continental sides and one national team.
Only Picnic PostNL and KSPO Professional will start with five riders each.
All eyes will also be on XDS Astana, who have overhauled most of their line-up but retained last year’s orange jersey winner, Matteo Malucelli.
The ceremony was graced by Kedah Youth and Sports Committee chairman Radhi Mat Din, Youth and Sports Ministry deputy secretary-general Abdullah Hasan and National Sports Council (NSC) director Jefri Ngadirin.
Classified as a 2.ProSeries event on the UCI Asia Tour calendar, this year’s LTdL will run from Sept 28 to Oct 5, featuring eight stages over a total distance of 1,244.2km.
