Above board: Former keirin world champion Azizulhasni Awang’s place in the cycling team will be based on merit according to technical director John Beasley.

PETALING JAYA: There will be no free ride for two-time Olympic medallist Azizulhasni Awang as the cyclists needs to earn his stripes when it comes to national team assignments.

Technical director John Beasley said Azizul would not be competing in the individual events at the World Championships in Santiago, Chile on Oct 15-19 but will be considered for a spot in the team sprint event, which Malaysia have already qualified for.
