Zhen Yi ends 17-year medal drought in women’s pursuit despite short preparation time

NILAI: Track cyclist Yeong Zhen Yi spent only a few weeks to prepare for her Asian Championships debut but it did not stop her from ending a 17-year medal drought for Malaysia in the women’s elite 4km individual pursuit.

The 22-year-old served a pleasant surprise by claiming the bronze medal on the final day of the Asian meet at the National Velodrome in Nilai yesterday.
