KANGAR: Cyclist Muhd Arfy Qhairant Amran of Malacca hardly trained for the road event, but that did not stop him from claiming the Sukma men’s criterium gold medal at Chuping.

Arfy, who switched from track sprinting programme to track endurance early this year, beat the favourite and Pahang Sukma gold medallist Sofian Nabil Omar of Terengganu with 22 points. Sofian collected 17 points for the silver while Muhd Zawawi Azman of Perak settled for the bronze with eight points.
