Li Jane's one step away from US title, but her feet's firmly on the lanes

PETALING JAYA: National bowler Sin Li Jane is one win away from reclaiming the US Open title, but she is not stressing herself out over the outcome of the final today.

Li Jane delivered a stellar performance in Indianapolis to enter the final as top seed after finishing at the top with 12,239 pinfalls after 56 games at the Royal Pin Woodland yesterday.

Ukraine’s Dasha Kovalova came in second with 12,161 pinfalls, while Latvian bowler Diana Zavjalova finished third with 12,027 pinfalls.

Home bowlers Jilian Martin and Jordan Snodgrass completed the five-player stepladder finals with 11,942 and 11,896 pinfalls, respectively.

Li Jane is looking to reclaim the major title she won in 2024, where she defeated Zavjalova in the final to clinch her first major title in the Professional Women’s Bowling Association (PWBA).

The 34-year-old Li Jane said it wasn't easy for her to get into the US Open final, especially after finishing second behind Snodgrass in the PWBA Barbara Chrisman Classic in Ohio last week.

"It means a lot to me to be one win away from another US Open title, especially after the amount of work that has gone into getting back to this stage," said Li Jane.

"I’m grateful for the opportunity, but my focus is on executing every shot and letting the outcome take care of itself."

Li Jane is looking to add a seventh career title, third career major, and a second title this year after she won the season-opening Bowlers Journal Rockford Open last month.

A repeat win today will see Li Jane become just the 12th bowler to win multiple US Open titles.
