PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian girls’ team bowled their way to gold at the International Friendship Youth Championship in Doha on Friday (Feb 13).
The squad, comprising Qurratu’Ain Izdihar Pozi, Intan Nor Edryana Nor Azliman, Natalie Chong and Nur Aleeya Syakirah Awang Ali, scored a total of 5,311 pins to finish top while the Philippines came in second with 4,991 pins.
Czech Republic took the third spot with 4,879.
It was Malaysia’s first gold in the tournament after Qurratu’ain bagged two bronze medals earlier in the singles and doubles with Intan.
Meanwhile, the boys' team of Ethan Damien Goh, Mohd Hafiz Darwisy, Mohd Zarif Ikram and Mohd Aiman Syahin clinched silver with a total score of 5,543 pins.
Czech Republic won gold with 5,662 pins while Singapore came in third with 5,530 pins.
Ethan and Zarif had also won bronze in the doubles earlier.
