BANGKOK: National bowlers Rafiq Ismail and Mohd Syazirol Shamsudin lit up the lanes to capture the men’s doubles gold at the Blu-O Rhythm and Bowl in Ratchayothin on Tuesday (Dec 16).

The Malaysian pair produced a composed and commanding display in the final, overcoming home favourites Lapasdanai Chusaeng and Vilinkom Kledkaew 470–435 to seal the title.

The victory marked Syazirol’s second medal of the tournament, having earlier secured bronze in the men’s singles last Sunday.

It proved to be redemption for Syazirol after an organisers’ blunder led to a re-bowl in the singles

Meanwhile, compatriots Tun Ameerul Hakim Tun Hasnul Azam and Tsen Fan Yew had to settle for bronze after falling 389–450 to the Thai duo of Lapasdanai and Vilinkom in the semi-finals.
