PETALING JAYA: National junior doubles coach Pang Cheh Chang was taken to hospital after nearly fainting during the National Under-19 Championships in Alor Setar on Wednesday (Sept 16).
The incident occurred while Cheh Chang was coaching Wong Tze Han-Teoh Chong Yee in their men’s doubles match against Jason Afandy Wong-Lum Chee Kian at the Kedah Badminton Association Hall.
Cheh Chang suddenly felt unwell and had to be assisted by those around him before the medical team stepped in.
Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) executive council and welfare committee member Datuk Wan Khalik Wan Muhammad, who was at the venue, said Cheh Chang was taken to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital for further checks.
“Coach Pang Cheh Chang almost fainted earlier, but he remained conscious throughout.
“His heartbeat suddenly became very fast, which caused him to feel faint. The medical team immediately took him to hospital for further checks and he is still under observation.
“His condition has improved and he is currently resting in hospital,” Wan Khalik said when contacted.
