PETALING JAYA: Women's doubles pair Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah lived up to expectations by advancing to the Taiwan Open final after defeating Francesca Corbett-Jennie Gai of the United States on Saturday (Aug 1).
The top seeds were in control throughout the match, cruising to a 21-15, 21-17 victory in just 36 minutes at the Taipei Arena.
Awaiting Pearly-Thinaah in the final are Japan's Sumire Nakade-Miyu Takahashi, who came from a game down to beat Thailand's Hathaithip Mijad-Napapakorn Tungkasatan 18-21, 21-11, 21-16.
Meanwhile, Aaron Chia-Aaron Tai wasted little time in proving their scratch partnership can be a successful one after reaching the final as well.
Chia-Tai came from behind to beat home pair Chen Cheng-kuan-Liu Kuang-heng 24-26, 21-19, 21-16 in a 61-minute semi-final match.
It is only their second tournament together after joining forces at last week's China Open.
Awaiting them in the final are either Japan's Hiroki Okamura-Kyohei Yamashita or Indonesia's Leo Rolly Carnando-Daniel Marthin.
