Ee Wei suffers partial ACL tear, says BAM

PETALING JAYA: Mixed doubles shuttler Toh Ee Wei has been diagnosed with a partial tear of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in her left knee.

The injury was confirmed by the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) after Ee Wei underwent a medical assessment on Monday (June 1).

"BAM confirms that Toh Ee Wei sustained a knee injury during her quarter-final match at the Singapore Open last week.

"Subsequent MRI assessment revealed a partial tear of the ACL in her left knee," said BAM in a statement.

Ee Wei suffered the injury during her Singapore Open quarter-final match last week alongside Chen Tang Jie against India's Dhruv Kapila-Tanisha Crasto.

The pair were leading 18-16 in the opening game before being forced to retire after Ee Wei was unable to continue.

As a result, Ee Wei-Tang Jie will miss the Indonesian Open, which starts on Tuesday (June 2).

"Ee Wei is scheduled to undergo a follow-up MRI assessment next Friday, after which BAM’s medical team will determine the next course of treatment and rehabilitation," added BAM.
