PETALING JAYA: Mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei were pushed to the brink before overcoming Indonesia’s Amri Syahnawi-Nita Marwah in the second round of the Malaysian Masters on Thursday (May 21).

In the match at the Unifi Arena in Bukit Jalil, Tang Jie-Ee Wei, who are seeded second, lived dangerously before prevailing with a 21-19, 22-20 win over Amri-Nita to reach the quarter-finals.

Tang Jie-Ee Wei will next take on China’s eighth seeds Gao Jiaxuan-Wei Yaxin in the quarter-finals.

“I think our opponents were not easy either. They are a top-20 pair in the world, so Ee Wei and I had to make sure we were well prepared before the match and discuss how we wanted to approach it.

“Of course, playing at home and having the support of our fans helped us a lot, especially in an intense match like this. So thank you to all Malaysians. We will do better," said Tang Jie.
