Pearly-Thinaah finally end their Asian Championships first round jinx

PETALING JAYA: World No. 2 women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah finally ended two years of first round exits at the Asian Championships after defeating Hong Kong’s Fan Ka Yan-Yau Mau Ying on Wednesday (April 8).

In the match held at the Ningbo Olympic Sports Centre, Pearly-Thinaah had little trouble overcoming the world No. 50 pair, winning 21-14, 21-11 in 31 minutes.

They will face Taiwan’s Hsu Yin-hui-Lin Jhih-yun in the second round.

Meanwhile, in the men’s doubles, Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun went down to home pair He Jiting-Ren Xiang Yu 18-21, 18-21.

Earlier, Wan Arif Wan Junaidi-Yap Roy King let their advantage slip against Taiwan’s Lee Fang-chih-Lee Fang-jen to lose 17-21, 21-17, 20-22.
