PETALING JAYA: Men’s doubles pair Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun kept their semi-final hopes alive at the World Tour Finals after defeating Chiu Hsiang-chieh-Wang Chi-lin of Taiwan on Thursday (Dec 18).

The Group A match at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre saw Wei Chong-Kai Wun display strong fighting spirit to secure a 21-18, 21-19 win in 34 minutes.

"I think we prepared a lot for the opening game and tried not to allow too many counter-attacks because we don’t have much of an advantage.

"Our opponents have the edge, so we need to stay focused from the beginning," said Kai Wun in a post match interview with Badminton World Federation.

However, the Malaysians face a tough task in their bid to reach the semi-finals as they must overcome world No. 1 pair Kim Won-ho and Seo Seung-jae on Friday (Dec 19), who currently lead Group A with two points from two wins.

"We’ve played them before and lost four or five times, but in the last few meetings we took the matches to three games.

"They are the better pair, so there’s not much pressure on us.

"We just need to prepare well for the match and we won’t give up easily. We still have a chance to qualify for the semi-finals," added Wei Chong.
