PETALING JAYA: World junior champions Aaron Tai–Kang Khai Xing have made their long-awaited breakthrough after capturing their first senior title in commanding fashion at the Malaysian Super 100 in Iskandar Puteri, Johor, on Sunday (Oct 19).

The fourth seeds were in sizzling form, overpowering Malaysian professionals and third seeds Chia Weijie–Lwi Sheng Hao 21-18, 21-7 in just 28 minutes to lift the men’s doubles crown.

The win was a huge relief for Aaron–Khai Xing, who have been under pressure to deliver results since moving up to the senior ranks last year.

Their maiden senior triumph not only highlights the pair’s growing maturity and potential to go far, but also underscores the rising depth in Malaysia’s men’s doubles department under head coach Herry Iman Pierngadi.

Earlier, women’s singles shuttler Wong Ling Ching fell short against former world No. 1 Nozomi Okuhara of Japan, going down 18-21, 11-21 in the final.
