PETALING JAYA: Independent shuttlers Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani lived dangerously to reach the men's doubles third round in the World Championships.

On Wednesday (Aug 27), the world No.3 survived the second round with a hard fought win over Americans Chen Zhi Yi-Presley Smith at the Adidas Arena in Port de la Chapelle in Paris.

Sze Fei-Izzuddin were pushed hard by the world No. 30 pair but the pros used their experience to prevail 19-21, 21-10, 21-17 in 51 minutes.

Sze Fei-Izzuddin looked in danger of suffering a shock defeat when they  trailed 7-11 in the third game but did well to come from behind to claim the win in 51 minutes.

The pair will face Taiwan's world No. 18 Lee Jhe-huei-Yang Po-hsuan next for a place in the last eight.

They have a good record against the Taiwanese, having beaten them in the past three meetings.
