PETALING JAYA: Women’s doubles shuttlers Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah got off to a flying start in the World Championships by cruising into the third round.
Pearly-Thinaah only needed 37 minutes to sweep aside world No. 26 Lui Lok Lok-Tsang Hiu Yan 21-17, 21-14 at the Adidas Arena in Port de la Chapelle in Paris on Wednesday (Aug 27).
The world No. 2 pair will likely face Indonesia’s world No. 14 Siti Fadia Ramadhanti-Lanny Tria next for a place in the last eight.
Pearly-Thinaah are the only Malaysians left in the women’s doubles in the prestigious meet after world No. 18 Teoh Mei Xing-Go Pei Kee went down tamely 11-21, 9-21 to world No. 19 Bulgarian sisters Gabriela Stoeva-Stefani Stoeva earlier on Wednesday.
