PETALING JAYA: The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) have assured that all efforts have been put to prevent the roof in the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil from leaking again during the Malaysian Masters from May 20-25.

Matches had to halted during the Malaysian Open first round in January after the roof above the courts in the stadium started leaking following heavy downpour.

The Malaysian Stadium Board had apologised for the incident and said the leaks were due to construction works to replace the old roof.

BAM acting president Datuk V. Subramaniam said that the national body have been in discussions with the Stadium Board and assured that the issue has been resolved ahead of the home Masters.

"They have repaired the roof and I believe there are no problems now. What happened (during the Malaysian Open) was an accident," said Subramaniam.

"We have been in touch with MSC and they have briefed us. The contractor last time overlooked a very small portion (of the roof) which they have now rectified."
