KUALA LUMPUR: Women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah lived up to expectations by securing a spot in the Indonesian Masters semi-finals after defeating Japan’s Yuki Fukushima-Mayu Matsumoto on Friday (Jan 24).

In the quarter-final clash held at the Istora Senayan in Jakarta, second seeds Pearly-Thinaah delivered a composed performance to overcome Malaysian Open winners Fukushima-Matsumoto with a 21-16, 21-15 victory in just 48 minutes.

This marks the second consecutive win for Pearly-Thinaah against the Japanese duo, having previously triumphed over them in the quarter-finals of the Indian Open in New Delhi last week.

The Malaysians will face Lee Yeon-woo-Lee Yu-lim of South Korea next.

However, it is over for Teoh Mei Xing-Go Pei Kee after the duo went down with a whimper 5-21, 13-21 to China's Jia Yifan-Zhang Shuxian in the last eight.
