PETALING JAYA: Former international Teo Kok Siang has proven that he has made the right decision to stay on and guide the professional shuttlers.

On Sunday (Jan 19), Kok Siang was beaming with pride as Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani lifted the men's doubles title in the Indian Open.

Kok Siang was one of the candidates approached by the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) to replace Tan Bin Shen as the men's doubles head coach but it didn't work out.

BAM eventually chose experienced Indonesian Herry Iman Perngadi for the role.

Kok Siang showed that local coaches can also succeed when he guided Sze Fei-Izzuddin to their first title of the year.

The world No. 2 pair pulled off an impressive 21-15, 13-21, 21-16 win over Malaysian Open champions Seo Seung-jae-Kim Won-ho of South Korea in New Delhi.

It was Sze Fei-Izzuddin's fourth title since August after they also captured the China Open, Japan Open and Arctic Open and finished runners-up in the World Tour Finals last month.

Kok Siang was pleased with the pair's remarkable rise and wants them to continue their good form.

"Congratulations to both of you! Let's keep pushing forward and striving for even greater progress," said Kok Siang via social media.

"With continuous effort and determination, we can keep improving and reach new heights. Let's stay motivated and continue working hard!"
