Tang Jie-Ee Wei lose in Indian Open semis

PETALING JAYA: Shuttlers Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei's hopes of making it into the mixed doubles final in the Indian Open were dashed after they went down to French pair Thom Gicquel-Delphine Delrue.

World No. 3 Tang Jie-Ee Wei suffered a disappointing 17-21, 15-21 defeat to world No. 12 Gicquel-Delrue in New Delhi on Saturday (Jan 18).

The Malaysians had beaten the French duo three times in their past four meetings but the latter turned the tables on them to come away with the win in 42 minutes.

Tang Jie-Ee Wei, who were also stopped by China's world No. 1 Feng Yanzhe-Huang Dongping in the last four of the Malaysian Open last week, blew a good opportunity to reach their first final this year.

Meanwhile, Gicquel-Delrue will take on another Chinese pair, world No. 2 Jiang Zhenbang-Wei Yaxin, in the final.
