Soon Huat-Shevon through to Indian Open second round


PETALING JAYA: Mixed doubles shuttlers Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie ousted Indonesia's Rinov Rivaldy-Lisa Ayu to make it into the Indian Open second round.

The world No. 4 pair played well to claim a 21-17, 21-17 win over the new pairing in 36 minutes at the KD Jadhav Indoor Stadium in New Delhi on Wednesday (Jan 15).

Soon Huat-Shevon will next face Japan's two-time Olympic bronze medallist Yuta Watanabe and his new partner Maya Taguchi for a place in the last eight.

Watanabe-Taguchi defeated another Malaysian pair Wong Tien Ci-Lim Chiew Sien 21-17, 21-15 to reach the second round.
