PETALING JAYA: Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei will cherish the final match against Zheng Siwei-Huang Yaqiong of China in the World Tour Finals for a long time.

The Malaysians gave the Paris Olympic Games champions a good fight before losing 18-21, 21-14, 17-21 in 75 minutes in Hangzhou on Sunday (Dec 15).

It was Siwei's last tournament and the Chinese maestro ended in a stellar fashion by winning it with Dongping although the Malaysians did make their opponents sweat.

Tang Jie is happy to be part of the finale.

"This match was special for us as we all know Siwei-Yaqiong are legends and superstar players," said Tang Jie in post match interview with the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

"We are really happy and proud that Siwei's last match was against us. At the same time, we wanted to win but could not.

"Our strategy worked but during the critical points, it was still not good enough."

Ee Wei said: "This is a good breakthrough. Although we didn't win the title, this a positive sign for our future.

"We will take this as a lesson to improve our game. We hope to get to a higher level."
