PETALING JAYA: Will Hendrawan coach Lee Zii Jia again for the new Olympic Games cycle?

National singles coach Hendrawan's contract has ended with the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) while Zii Jia's current coach Wong Tat Meng will leave end of this month.

Tat Meng will lead Zii Jia in a final tournament at the World Tour Finals in Hangzhou, China, next week.

Hendrawan has coached Zii Jia before in the BAM setup, in fact, both of them have had a good working relationship.

They parted ways when Zii Ji decided to leave BAM in early 2022 to turn professional while the former world champion Hendrawan stayed on to coach Ng Tze Yong and Co.

In a statement released by Team LZJ on Friday, they said Zii Jia is preparing to start the new season, with the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games in mind.

He will be needing a good coach to prepare for the next four years if he harbours hope to improve on the bronze medal that he won at the Paris Olympic Games.
