Yew Sin-Ee Yi's run ends in Japan Masters semi-finals

PETALING JAYA: Men's doubles shuttlers Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi's hopes of reaching their first World Tour final of the year were dashed after their run in the Japan Masters ended in the last four.

World No. 12 Yew Sin-Ee Yi went down fighting 21-16, 20-22, 17-21 to China's world No. 8 Liu Yuchen-Ou Xuanyi in a pulsating match at the Kumamoto Prefectural Gymnasium on Saturday (Nov 18).

The independent pair had a great opportunity to win the match when they led 19-15 in the second game but could not hold on to their lead.

Malaysia's challenge in the tournament is over after Yew Sin-Ee Yi's defeat.

Yuchen-Xuanyi will take on teammates He Jiting-Ren Xiangyu for the title on Sunday (Nov 19).
