Three Malaysians led by Zii Jia storm into last eight in Finland

PETALING JAYA: Independent shuttler Lee Zii Jia and the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) players Ng Tze Yong and Leong Jun Hao advanced to the Arctic Open quarter-finals in Vantaa, Finland on Thursday (Oct 12).

Zii Jia overcame Chico Aura of Indonesia 21-17, 18-21, 21-11 in a second round match that lasted for one hour.

He will meet Jun Hao, who defeated Arnaud Merkle of France 15-21, 21-17, 21-19, in the last eight clash on Friday (Oct 13).

Tze Yong also did well to beat former world No. 2 Chou Tien Chen of Taiwan 21-15, 21-16 in the second round.

The Malaysian No. 2 will play Lu Guangzu of China for a place in the semi-finals on Friday (Oct 13).
