PETALING JAYA: Mixed doubles pair Hoo Pang Ron-Lai Pei Jing brought some cheer to the Malaysian camp after pulling off an upset against fourth seeds Yang Po-hsuan-Hu Ling-fang to reach the quarter-finals of the Hylo Open on Thursday (Oct 29).
Pang Ron-Pei Jing needed just 25 minutes to seal a convincing 21-9, 21-16 win in the second round at the Saarlandhalle in Saarbrucken.
They will face another hurdle on Friday (Oct 30) when they take on Hong Kong’s seventh seeds Chan Yin Chak-Ng Tsz Yau for a place in the semi-finals.
Pang Ron-Pei Jing moved up seven rungs to 24th position after reaching the final of the French Open last week.
